My Head Just Exploded

I'm trying to finish off my day at the office while listening to the proceedings in the House of Representatives on C-Span. They are debating a bill on timelines for withdrawl from Iraq.

The invective and general Republic Party bs is flying. Just listened to one Repug who used the word Democrat in the pejorative no less than 10 times in 2 minutes. Ticked me off.

Then John Boehner stepped to the mike............

John Boner asked rhetorically "Who is our biggest eneny in Iraq?" He answered himself, "Well, its Al Qaeda, of course." Pretending that this was the correct answer. Of course all our military intelligence tells us Al Qaeda comprises something around 5% of those we are fighting in Iraq.

But whatever.

This (erroneous) point is used by Boner to lead to the point that caused my aforementioned cranial burst. Boner shouted that Al Qaeda is our main enemy in Iraq and they are losing right now. "That's why we are seeing bigger bombs. And bigger casualties. Because Al Qaeda is on the run." KA-BOOM goes my noggin. We're winning- that's why more soldiers are dying.

He also complained that trying to get our troops out of the middle of a civil war is "just ignoring the consequences". Idiot.

I hope Josh Marshall or Crooks and Liars posts some video of this bizarro moment at the end of the debate. We can see we are winning because we are losing more soldiers and being hit with larger-scale munitions???? Paging Mr. Orwell........
